Today we are going to talk about blind spots. Blind spots are numerous, and they trip everyone up. So what is a blind spot? A blind spot is something that is holding you back—knowingly or unknowingly—from reaching your full potential with hair growth. More often than not, it’s something hidden. A trigger, a habit, a belief, or a factor you simply haven’t seen yet.
Blind spots are everywhere. They exist in relationships, in work, in health, and even in everyday life. A simple analogy is driving: you look to your side, think it’s clear, and try to change lanes—only to realize there’s a car there. You didn’t see it. That’s a blind spot. Sometimes you avoid it. Sometimes you don’t.
In alopecia, blind spots are often the reason healing takes longer than expected.
Why Even Experts Miss Their Own Blind Spots
I see this all the time. Clients come to me who are personal trainers, nutritionists, dietitians, nurses, physical therapists—even hairdressers. People who are deeply educated in health or even working directly in the hair industry.
And yet, they still struggle with alopecia.
Alopecia does not discriminate. It affects men, women, and children of all ages and backgrounds around the world. I’ve worked with all of them.
What’s important to understand is this: knowledge alone does not remove blind spots.
My Own Journey With Blind Spots
During my own alopecia journey, I couldn’t find clear answers anywhere. I had to become an investigative researcher. I searched in multiple languages—English, Spanish, Portuguese—because I speak all three fluently. I was determined to find answers, but I still couldn’t find what I needed.
That experience is part of why I do what I do today.
Even in my own healing journey, I had blind spots. I thought I was doing everything right—eating well, exercising, sleeping properly, living a “healthy” lifestyle.
And still, I developed alopecia.
At the time, I was at my fittest. I was training with a personal trainer multiple times a week, running daily, extremely active, even preparing for a triathlon. On paper, everything looked optimal.
But something was still missing.
When Doing “Everything Right” Isn’t Enough
This is where blind spots matter most.
Many clients tell me:
“I already know what to do.”
“I already eat healthy.”
“I already exercise.”
“I already take supplements.”
And yet, the symptoms remain.
This is because alopecia is not just about effort—it’s about alignment. And blind spots disrupt that alignment.
Even people with extensive education in health fields often still struggle because their knowledge isn’t specific to their own condition.
Alopecia requires a different level of understanding—one that goes beyond general health advice.
Why Blind Spots Keep You Stuck
Blind spots are often the reason people feel stuck for years.
They can delay healing.
They can make you doubt yourself.
They can create frustration and confusion.
And sometimes, they make people believe there is no solution.
But that is not true.
Healing Is Possible When Blind Spots Are Addressed
I am living proof that hair loss can be reversed.
I have not experienced alopecia for over nine years. Even after major life events—postpartum changes, pregnancy at 40, stress, and multiple international moves—my hair has remained stable.
I’ve also seen this transformation in clients around the world.
Many experience visible hair growth in a short period of time once their blind spots are identified and addressed.
That shift is often the turning point.
Why Self-Awareness Alone Isn’t Always Enough
Self-awareness is powerful, but it has limits.
When you are deeply inside your own experience, it becomes difficult to see yourself objectively. You are too close to the problem.
That closeness often creates blind spots of its own.
This is why many people stay stuck longer than necessary—they are trying to solve something they cannot fully see.
The Role of Guidance and Outside Perspective
Blind spots are much easier to identify when someone outside of your situation evaluates your case.
An outside perspective can see patterns you cannot see yourself.
This is also why structured evaluation and guided support can accelerate progress significantly compared to trying to figure everything out alone.
Without identifying blind spots, healing becomes a longer and more frustrating process.
With them identified, things can shift quickly.
The Cost of Not Seeing Your Blind Spots
When blind spots go unnoticed, they can:
- Delay hair regrowth
- Create repeated cycles of trial and error
- Increase confusion and frustration
- Make you feel like nothing is working
But when they are addressed, everything changes.
Progress becomes clearer.
Results become faster.
Confidence returns.
Final Reflection: You Don’t Know What You Don’t Know
One of the most important truths in healing is this: you don’t know what you don’t know.
And often, the missing piece is not effort—it’s awareness.
So I invite you to reflect honestly on your journey. But I also encourage you not to do it alone if you feel stuck.
Because if something unseen is holding you back, the fastest way forward is to identify it.
Once blind spots are revealed, healing is no longer guesswork—it becomes direction.
And that changes everything.
