Most people begin their journey the same way I did—by going to a doctor or dermatologist. Some see multiple doctors, and they often receive the same pattern of treatment:
- topical creams
- steroid injections
- immunosuppressant medications
- lotions and “quick fixes”
And while these are commonly prescribed, they often come with side effects and limited long-term results.
For parents especially, this can feel overwhelming. And for adults, there’s often a quiet question: Is this worth it?
I tried medication myself in the beginning. But once I started understanding the long-term effects, I chose a different path—because I believed there had to be a better future for my hair and my health.
It took me about three and a half years to fully heal, but more than seven years later, I still have my hair and my health is strong.
My Approach: Healing Beyond Symptoms
What I teach is not just about hair. It is about full-body healing.
It is possible to support the body naturally, without long-term side effects, without damage to other systems, and without compromising overall health.
That is what I am committed to teaching inside the Hair and Heal approach.
Let’s go into the first and most important step.
Step 1: Evaluation and Customization
One of the biggest misconceptions is this:
When you see a doctor, you think you are being evaluated properly.
But what often happens is that you are placed into a standard treatment category.
So whether it’s Jane, Jack, Jill, or Johanna, they often receive variations of the same treatments.
And this is where conventional medicine often falls short—it is not personalized.
The Problem with One-Size-Fits-All Treatment
Alopecia is not one-size-fits-all.
It cannot be treated like a simple headache where one pill works for everyone.
You can take Tylenol or Advil for a headache and expect similar results across most people. But alopecia does not work that way.
That’s because alopecia is not a single-cause condition—it is a combination of many internal and external factors.
Why Personalization Is Essential
In my program, evaluation is extremely detailed—often 10 pages or more.
This is because we need to look at:
- age and life stage (child, adult, menopause, puberty, etc.)
- lifestyle and stress levels
- diet and environment
- underlying health conditions
- hormonal and immune factors
- individual triggers and blind spots
You cannot treat a 5-year-old the same way you treat a 55-year-old.
You cannot treat someone postpartum the same way you treat someone going through menopause.
Everyone is different.
Alopecia Is Like a Puzzle
I often explain alopecia like a puzzle with many pieces.
Each person has different puzzle pieces:
- health history
- diet
- stress levels
- environment
- genetics
- lifestyle habits
Healing happens when we put those pieces together correctly.
Without that, you are simply guessing—and guessing leads to frustration and wasted time.
Why the First Step Matters Most
Without evaluation and customization, people often end up:
- trying multiple treatments
- spending money on supplements or products that don’t work
- cycling through frustration and confusion
PRP, minoxidil, shampoos, serums—none of these work consistently in isolation because they are not addressing the root cause.
Real Healing Requires a Root-Cause Approach
Inside my work, I’ve seen something very clear:
When you personalize the approach, everything changes.
This is not about a quick fix. This is about understanding your body deeply and supporting it in the right way so it can return to balance.
Because when the body is in balance, hair regrowth becomes possible again.
Family and Real-Life Impact
One of the most beautiful parts of this work is that healing often expands beyond one person.
Sometimes a parent comes to help their child, and then realizes they also have their own health concerns. Other times, the whole family begins improving together.
I’ve seen this repeatedly—health becomes contagious in the best way.
When one person starts healing, the household often shifts:
- better habits
- better energy
- better awareness
- better overall wellbeing
It creates a ripple effect.
Final Thoughts: Step One Is Everything
So today’s key takeaway is simple:
Healing begins with evaluation and customization.
Without it, you are guessing. With it, you are guided.
Alopecia—whether autoimmune or otherwise—is not a one-size-fits-all condition. And because of that, the solution cannot be one-size-fits-all either.
When you personalize the approach, you give your body a real chance to heal.
