Hello everybody and welcome to the Alopecia Angel Podcast. I'm your host, Johanna Dahlman. I'm so excited to be with you today because today we are talking about all things biohacking. In particular biohacking your hair loss, so that you can have the hair growth that you deserve, the confidence that you crave, and the happiness that can be yours in less time.
So biohacking, what is this? If this is your first time ever hearing about biohacking, let me introduce you. So biohacking is a movement that involves individuals experimenting with different methods, ranging from lifestyle changes to technological interventions to optimize their health, performance, and longevity. It's a do it yourself approach to self care that combines science and self experimentation. The goal here is to improveoverall wellbeing by making informed decisions about all different aspects of health and factors. And so in many ways.
I have biohacked my hair loss, and if you know my story or if you don't know it, I highly recommend that you go back to episode podcast number #1 where I talk about my hair loss journey with alopecia areata, having lost over 50% of my hair over an inch of forehead, eyelashes, eyebrows, and so much more. Because if you're listening to this, if you have hair loss, it's much more than hair loss. There's so many other ancillary situation symptoms that go along with it that. In my case, came over me like a tsunami, right when I was in my 30s. I'm now in my mid 40s and I have better hair now and better health now than I ever did in my twenties or even in my teens.
So in any case, biohacking is a movement that I resonate with and I've spoken at the biohacking conference. Yes, there are conferences worldwide. I spoke at one last year. I've been published in multiple biohacking magazines, and I bring in a lot of biohacking into working with me. So when you decide to work with me, I bring in some aspects of biohacking. However, for those of you who just want the biohacking aspects of it, I actually do have a program and it's just only for biohacking and it's all the hack, the gadgets and everything else that we can be doing to improve our anti-aging, our hair, our health, our skin, and so much more.
I get compliments all the time, not just on my hair, but also on my skin and how young I look because at almost 45, I truly feel like I'm still in my early 30s, I have the energy for it. And I have a young toddler, and at the same time, none of these things are holding me back. That's the beauty of this movement, that's the beauty of this health and wellness industry. Because it's taking back the control into your own hands. It's really sussing out what works, what doesn't work for you, and it's leaving behind all the one size fits all. There are a couple aspects of biohacking that we can be doing or that are free or that do have an investment piece to it.
But at the same time, we also need to see what works for you now to today. And from today, we can build upon that, upon this foundation. And even from there, what works for you today may not work for you in 10 years may not work for you in 5 years because things change whether you're pregnant or in menopause, or whether you're breastfeeding or whether you're on a different, aspect of your life or whether you're doing something else or whether you started incorporating, I don't know, marathon running or whatever it is that, lights you up. This will accommodate as our health should accommodate and evolve with us. It's never gonna be the same road all the way, like everyone else. Just like how we've been very much indoctrinated to go to preschool, go to kindergarten, go to elementary school, finish that, go to secondary school, high school, and then go to university and then, get a degree. That path isn't for everyone.
And so, in many ways if you are not finding results with your current practitioners or with your current, self-healing aspects that you're doing for your hair loss, there's more to be done. And I'm here as a testament, but not just me, but also my clients in terms of getting the success and the hair growth that you want. Because the thing about any aspect of healing is that there's a couple components to it. Yes, we can, invest in ourselves, we can do more a, biohacking, we can do more things to improve and optimize our health. However, if we don't have a strong foundation, we're gonna be lopsided there. The other thing is that what I see sometimes is that sometimes people are trying to do all the things, and that foundation isn't there just yet. So that's part of it. You need a strong foundation in order to build upon it. You can't build upon, a shaky ground.
The other thing to improving yourself and optimizing performance is that just like anything, it requires consistency. This is why Olympians, athletes go to that next level because they consistently do the work, they consistently have and put in the effort. They consistently do all the things. I hear this a lot, right? I've done it all, i'm doing it all, and I still have hair loss. If you feel this way, I'm gonna tell you something that may sting just ever so slightly, but it's really because you have more to do. You're probably doing a couple things maybe that are wrong and more than likely you have blind spots. I talk about blind spots and episode like number #3 or #4 in my podcast. So I'd say go back to that episode about blind spots because these are things that are holding you back. These are things that are hindering and harming you and that you don't have any clue as to how this is happening.
And so I'll give you the recent example that I have with working with a gut health coach. Not because I need gut health support, but just the opposite. She's a gut health coach and she's come to me for her hair loss and she's been dealing with hair loss for 20 years. And so, in her 20 year situation of dealing with hair loss, she found me, she starts working with me and as everyone does, you start with an intake form, I scour it, I look at it really thoroughly, indefinitely. I give you a comprehensive recommendations, and those recommendations, she just implemented literally just a handful. It wasn't even the full gamut of recommendations, it was just a handful. And her hair loss stopped in 24 hours. 24 hours. That's how quickly your body wants to optimize, that's how quickly it wants to heal, that's how quickly things can be triggering us, where things can happen immediately.
And just on the flip side, maybe it's not hairless, maybe it's hives, maybe it's allergies, maybe it's something else, right?
That we're going through and our body triggers. And then once attack it the way it should be attacked. Then boom, then everything is breaking down. Everything is healing, everything is getting better. I actually mentioned hives because, my son recently got into something which gave him hives and normally hives last about a week and.
I've been supporting his body naturally, and with that, in just 48 hours, his hives are gone, which is a great relief, but it's also, showcasing that his body wants to heal and that if we don't do anything, the process will be longer, right? It'll take a week or so, but if we support the body, then it can happen in 48 hours or less.
And so that's the beauty of really understanding yourself, having that self-awareness, having the additional support of biohacking, so that you can get to that next level, to that next stage where you wanna be. I'm actually really excited. I've met, and I have so many friends in the industry, and I love this movement because it's about taking control of your own health.
It's about taking control of your own biology and saying yes and no to the things that either harm it or hinder it or improve it, and maybe even having the curiosity to say, okay let's go ahead and try this. You know what I mean? There are many avenues into this. And so, you go as far as you want, you go as far as you feel comfortable, you go as far as you feel. That you may need. This is why athletes get to that levels that they want to because they're using all the tools and resources and technology out there in order to get to that next level.
I've mentioned Tom Brady before. Tom Brady is an athlete here in the US who former athlete at this point, and he had a very long career in football, which is quite unheard of, it's not the norm. Normally in professional sports you are, your body can only take so much essentially, is what I'm trying to say. From the wear and tear and from, so many games and so many things that happen to you on the field, in this case football. And so, he's had a very long, successful career. A lot of it is also due to the biohacking, a lot of it is also due to the technology that's out there. This is actually, very exciting because it's actually coming to us in many ways so that any regular person can obtain it, any regular person can have access to it.
And so, I don't know if but I've actually held retreats before in the past and I am announcing right now that I'll be having my next retreat here soon. I will give you the link so you can show you interest and we can potentially get a small, exclusive group to come with me and spend the weekend with me. So we can explore more biohacking things for each person on a very personalized, individualized level.
This is quite exciting, especially if this is your first time and I'm happy to, be your tour guide and show you the way, and take you and give you the gamut of all the options and everything that's available to you. This would be a beautiful way to spend time together to learn more about your health concerns, but then also to see how such a difference in maybe a weekend or two, three days can give you with just some tools and techniques. This is the beauty of really formalizing and formulating a pathway to you, to your situation and getting to that next level. This is essentially what I did for my hair growth, this is what I did for my health, this is what I continue to do, and there's just so much to be done.
It's building Rome in a day, you can't do it in a day. It's a process and it takes multiple days, years, and they feed off of each other. But the more you do, the better it is, right? It's just like anything else, whether it's diet, lifestyle, exercise, meditation or anything else. The more you do it, the better you get at it, and the better it becomes and the better the results. And so this is the beauty of it. The other side to biohacking is that there's a lot of data. I'm such a nerd when it comes to data because I love results, I love data driven results, and there is a lot of data to be had in regards to this. These are science backed, formulations and optimized technology on ways that we can be improving on a regular basis. It's just taking a little time and a little investment, whether it is your time or whether it is other resources in order to obtain the results that we're looking for.
The personalized approach is really key. It's the same personalized approach that I look at when working with people inside the Hair N' Heal program. It's really an allencompassing, holistic aspect of healing. It's not just one thing, it's not 2 things, it's not 3 things. It's all of it. Because when you start looking at all the factors and when you start raising all tides, everything lifts, everything is being upgraded. And so that's the beauty of biohacking and there's many books on it, there's many people who talk about it. As I mentioned earlier, I've been showcased in publications for biohacking, I've spoken at conferences for biohacking and I definitely truly feel that this movement is worth your time, worth your investment. But just like any industry, right? You need to understand how to navigate it. You need to understand the ins and outs.
So it's not necessarily a clear path and it's definitely, not everything is good for everyone. And so this is where, again, the personalization approach is really needed. I would also say the self-awareness approach too. And so the beauty of this is that you're getting results with truly optimizing your body from the inside out and you see the results. This is a fabulous industry. I absolutely love it because this also shows you that you don't need to have a degree in order to get to that next level. Many times you can go there without the need of conventional medicine. Conventional medicine is only there for certain things, but not everything. This takes away and puts the power back in your hands versus you giving all your power to conventional medicine because medicine as we know it today, has lots of mistakes. Has lots of pitfalls.
Let me go ahead. I wanted to share something with you about conventional medicine. So what I'm gonna read you is from the Wall Street Journal that came out here recently and it says: health insurers deny 850 million claims a year. The few who appeal often win, and this is just in the US. We have a situation where health insurance is not really all encompassing. There's a lot of red tape as to what is coverage, what is covered, what is not covered, what things are considered health, right? In many countries and in many states, alopecia is not really considered a situation. Hair loss is not considered a health matter, when in reality it is. Many things are not covered, including wigs, toppers or anything else. Going the route of medications. I don't recommend it. At the same time is also very costly. I've known people who've gone through bankruptcies just because of their dependency on medication, which in reality doesn't give you long-term results. It just is going to hinder your situation even further, especially if you're young.
If any adults are listening to this podcast episode for your children, I would rethink and reconsider the ramifications, the negative side effects that medications have, especially on children. And so one thing is to do it when you're, in your 60a and 50s and you're already done having kids. The other thing is to start giving medications to a 15 year old or a 10 year old, or a 20 year old who haven't even started their life, who haven't even, quite started a family yet or anything else. And so there's a lot of ramifications that can cause harm to fertility in both men and women.
And so you want to be very cognizant of these side effects and ramifications. If you want more help with that, we have a free PDF on my website, alopeciaangel.com and you can grab a free PDF of actually two things: alopecia meds and their harmful side effects, and then there's also another one and it lists exactly which medications and which side effects you'll get with each one. Then there's another PDF actually there that says, medications that cause hair loss. So both of 'em are actually very helpful in this journey. But going back to bankruptcy. The thing is, it's like the healthcare situation as we know it, is not necessarily helping us for hair loss. Let me be clear: for hair loss, the healthcare situation that we know now in every part of the world is not helping us. This is why you're here, this is why you're looking for an alternative, this is why you want another answer. You want a third door, a third option. You want another aspect and you want results.
And so if you want to be inspired, go to Success Stories on my website. You can also listen to the podcast, interviews from former clients and previous clients and see their success stories there. This is something that no one is doing because literally anyone can heal. It's not just me, it's thousands of people around the world and over 67 countries are healing and you can too. You can do it without the meds, without the gimmicks, without the one size fits all, without the specialty shampoos, without the supplements, without so many things that are geared towards hair loss and really are not focusing on the root cause, and that's just it. We need a root cause approach because it's normally more than just one-on-one cause and we can start healing that in less time.
The other thing I wanted to mention was that, we have a free training coming up June 11th. Feel free to join us on this free training. It's gonna be all about reversing and healing your hair loss and we will put the link in the show notes, but if you can't find it or if it's not working for you, feel free to email us at [email protected] and we will send you the link so you can register. June 11th is when we have a free live training with me so you can have all your answers and all your questions answered right then and there, and I can't wait to see you then. Thank you so much.
